Appreciated by generations of climbers, this four-pitch romp to the top of Red Wall provides a fine adventure for developing climbers. Only the third pitch merits classic status, but the varied climbing, excellent rock, and spacious belay ledges are more than enough to make up for the deficiences of the other pitches. Only those walking off (down Misery Ridge) climb the final pitch; everyone opts for standard rap route. Pitch 1: (5.6) Jam and stem a crack in a left-facing corner to a huge ledge. Pitch 2: (5.4) Walk left along an unexposed ledge, climbing simple, run-out potholes to a belay slot. Pitch 3: (5.7) Race up the super slab, with good gear on great rock, to a crux nearing the top. Pitch 4: (5.7) Hiking down (3rd class) into an unexposed gully, to a deceptively tricky bouldering crack splitting a (very) low angle slab.
