The Southeast Face earned its reputation as a death route after a near-fatal 60 foot fall on an early attempt. With a line of hardware leading directly into the unmistakable crack system, it lured adventurous climbers thinking they were repeating the original 1964 long. You'll encounter many old 1/4" bolts and nails, with homemade hangers. These were terrible when first placed, and now they've been rusting for 60 years.
