Sit start low with a left hand side pull, and a flat edge, at roughly the same height, just to the right. Starting a move in, at a higher and further right hand edge, is a popular variation that drops the difficulty to ~V8. From this starting position, some tricky moves lead up and right to the lip.
okay i did it from the ‘proper’ start. actually felt like it didnt add that much. the crux move is still the move to get to the good right hand hold of the stand start. such a weird climb. i could definitely see it feeling hard asf if youre tall and/or have big fingers and/or poor hip flexibilty. for me though, felt about the same difficulty as last dance. the starting foothold on the right has definitely been dug out/eroded lol.
If you start with the wrong holds and dont start sitting (aka crouching), this is absolutely not V10!
New guidebook says V8 from the original start holds, I could see it being around 7 from the upper right hand hold.
I personally don’t believe that strongly in forcing a contrived start position beyond sitting/standing. I used the upper right hand because I can reach it with my butt on the pad and its a more comfortable start for me. I may consider going back and redoing it from the ‘proper’ start. I still think it is important that when it says to ‘sit’, make sure to start with the butt on the ground and pull your weight up to establish before starting to climb.
I remember a few years ago a girl at my local gym proudly touting this as her ‘first of the grade’ V10, not sit starting and using the upper right hand start.
Funny memory now!
