Depending on the season, bouldering is often possible in Cougar all the way up to December and is usually one of the earlier areas to open as the snow starts to thaw in March/April. Even on a hot day the canyon can be surprisingly cool due to good tree coverage and shade from the surrounding canyon.
From new climbers, to seasoned veterans, there is something for everyone here. A number of classic hard lines such as "Crouching Dragon, Hidden Tiger" V11 and "The Mistress" V10 are often drawing the attention of strong climbers in the area.
From the entrance to Kalamalka park, continue on the dirt road for approximately 4.2 km until you reach a large, obvious, parking area on your left. Park here and then join the obvious hiking trail; follow this to the top of the canyon drop in trail (1.1 km). Following the signage drop down to the left and continue down to the canyon floor, passing the sport and trad walls (300-400 m).
The total approach time is normally 25-30 minutes and, with the exception of the last drop in, is almost entirely up hill.
