Upper Gold Bar comprises the majority of the areas one considers when climbing in Gold Bar. Winter dry spells make for the stickiest condtions of the year in the lower 'clear cut' area of the foothills as the lower density woods allows wind and sunlight to dry the rock quickly. Hiking the logging road up the hill is an arduous task, though the bounty of rock is well worth the effort regardless of the time of year! Park in the gravel pullout along Reiter Road making sure you DO NOT block the gate. Hike up the logging road towards one of the many separate subareas found along the road.
