i’m gonna come on here and rant a little bit… drop top on this boulder, as well as many others is dumb as fuck. in this already contrived sport of bouldering we need to set certain rules in place to maintain the purity of the lines we climb on as well as the sport. I think dropping a boulder at an arbitrary point on the wall shows incompletion of the boulder, and should only be the finish to the climb when absolutely necessary (in the case that the top is “impossible,” the boulder is the base of a sport route, or the topout is so incredibly sketchy / chossy that it would truly be impractical to finish the climb.) I have seen in many cases boulders have absolutely unnecessary drop tops, some examples from boulders I have topped fully include Immortal Techniques and this climb, Smokin’ Joe. These boulders have fucking topouts. Top them! When it comes down to you and the rock you climb on, don’t cheat the experience, don’t be lazy, top the fucking boulder.
