The Main Ogden Boulder Field sits below the impressive School Room Wall consisting of extremely clean white tintic quartzite. This solid glass like stone has been well cemented and stained with patina containing striking reds, oranges, yellows. The quartzite is well featured and often times very steep, this makes for virtually every decent sized boulder a great canadite. The quartzite is well featured and often times very steep, this makes for virtually every decent sized boulder a great canadite. The highly featured rock makes for all kinds of possible link-ups, thus creating a great training ground for fitness. Quite possibly the most redeeming factor of this near like glass stone is it's ability to take abuse from climbers, when Joe's Valley has all but tunred to dust the Ogden Boulders will remain. This main area reaches from the south side of the mouth of Ogden Canyon reaching all the way to Waterfall Canyon, consisting of about 13 city blocks, it's all connected through an extremely well managed trails system that accomodates many types of sports from mt.biking to trail running.
There are three main Parking Lots/spots, unfortunatly the midpoint spot which is the closet to reach the Upper Field, the South Talus, and the Lower Field, seems to be the most popular only can accomodate about 10 cars. The furthest North parking spot the 22nd st./Indian Trail head parking lot is the best option for the North Ramp Walls, and the North Field. The 22nd st parking lot has plenty of parking space if the top of 27th st. is too crowded, it's only a 5-10 min hike further on relativly flat terrain. The most South parking would be the parking lot for Waterfall Canyon, the trail system is so good it's quite easy to reach any of the areas from one of these three parking spots. I see parking becoming a problem in the future as Ogden grows in popularity.
The same starting beta. Kept slipping up at the top, so it took a few attempts. Decent movement regardless. Thanks to bobbysend for providing some good start beta!
The hardest of the three low starts, but only a grade or two harder than the stand start. The best line on the boulder in my opinion. Unfortunately, the send video was recorded poorly, so I ended up having to piece the beta together into a single video with what I managed to record.
If you can reach, it is surpringly doable. It felt extremely easy for v10, but a softer rating is height dependent. The swing release is pretty intense!
Now to climb it from the base... Fun one move, but not much of a climb alone. Felt easier than V7 though.
