The Boulderfields draw climbers from all over, offering a wide range of problems that cater to everyone from beginners to seasoned veterans, making it a must-visit spot for climbing enthusiasts. Managed by the Okanagan Bouldering Society in partnership with Sites and Trails BC, the Boulderfields provide free camping with basic amenities, including pit toilets and picnic tables. Please note that there is no water available at the campsite or within the bouldering area, so be sure to come prepared. Every September, the Boulderfields comes alive with the Rock the Blocs bouldering festival, a highly anticipated event that attracts climbers from across Canada and beyond. The festival is a celebration of the sport, community, and the incredible natural environment, featuring friendly competitions, clinics, and social events that bring the climbing community together. Whether you're looking to test your skills on the rocks, take in the spectacular scenery, or simply enjoy the peace and solitude of nature, the Okanagan Boulderfields offers an unparalleled outdoor experience that showcases the very best of what the Okanagan region has to offer. When you visit the Site, please abide by the following rules to ensure continued access to this area. - Keep dogs on leash at all times - Light fires only within fire rings and only when fire bans are not in effect - Do not cut down trees or vegetation or dig into the ground - Do not stash pads under established boulders or in plain view of any trails - Pack out all your trash Start by finding your way to Summerhill Pyramid Winery in Kelowna. Once you've passed the winery, continue up the hill on Chute Lake Road. When you get to the top of the hill, Chute Lake Road makes a sharp right turn. Instead of following the road to the right, go straight onto Upper Mission Drive. All distances are calculated from here. Drive up Upper Mission Drive for about 250 m and turn left. You'll wind up a steep paved hill to the beginning of a gravel road. This is Gillard Forest Service Road (FSR). Turn left onto the gravel road. In a couple minutes, you'll pass the Kelowna Mountain development on the right. Keep going on Gillard FSR generally trending uphill and southeast until you reach about the 8.8 km mark. You don't need to turn off the main road at any point before this. At this point, you'll come to a 4-way junction. Turn left here onto the historic Kettle Valley Railway road. Follow this road passing through a rocky corridor, making a big loop around an old, now collapsed, burnt trestle on the left (Lorna Trestle), passing through another rocky corridor and eventually reaching a straight-away to the 10.6 km mark. At this point, you are at the Fields road, and you turn left to descend to the parking lot.
