The most unexpected development at Smith Rock in this millenium are the amazing routes of the Zoo region.  Far east of Smith Rock State Park, with totally different access (through Skull Hollow) the Zoo region feels more like the early years of Smith climbing, before the influx of hikers.  The Zoo itself is the most outstanding crag, but others are conveniently located and worth visiting.
