First climbed in 1967, the original (and worst) route up the Wombat's Northwest Face follows the path of least resistance up a gully splitting the entire formation. Pitch 1: (5.6) Scramble up an ugly corridor and grovel up a groove to a belay below diverging cracks. Pitch 2: (5.7) Move left (ignoring a better looking dihedral directly above) and climb a lichen-plastered corner to the summit ridge. Pitch 3: (5.1) Traverse the same exposed ridge as everything else to the summit
