The approaches can be tricky and the boulders difficult to find, but the beauty of the park makes it truly rewarding. If planning your first trip, I recommend Purple Horse Area as most of the boulders are right off the trail and there are some solid classics like Show of Hands V3, Purple Horse Problem V5 and Emergence V6. For those looking for a challenge choose Spitzbergen for classics like Double Slap V9, Violent Touch V10 and Art of Flight V8. On the MD side, parking at Old Angler Inn will be the best approach. The lot is free, but it fills up quickly on weekends so plan accordingly. Entrance fee required to enter the VA portion of the park. An America the Beautiful national park card can be used to cover the entrance fees, otherwise it is $20 per car. Alternative free parking available at the Difficult Run lot off Georgetown Pike (also gets crowded fast). Some areas are significantly off the main trails and have been flagged as "access sensitive." While access is being clarified with the park, prioritize areas that are right off the trails, especially on busy weekends.
