Some boulders and cliffbands are used by the park to demonstrate primitive shelters, not just for climbing, therefore reduced chalk use is highly recommended. Do not slap chalk onto the rock. Being good stewards and maintaining a healthy relationship with other users and with the park rangers should be a high priority for any visiting climber.
Water and time have made delicate swoops of these holds. The trade-off is that it's often the first stone on this wall to be wet and the last to dry. Climb the dark water streak to the top.
