Archangel Road is the access point for nearly all of the bouldering in Hatcher Pass. The gravel road is over 4 miles long in total, but the lower and upper sections of the road are very different. The first 2 miles of Archangel Road are relatively flat, cutting across the slope through sub-alpine meadows and thick bands of alder and willow. The road was widened and rebuilt in 2015, providing a fairly smooth drive all the way to the bridge (around 2 miles). The first 2 miles of Archangel Road are relatively flat, cutting across the slope through sub-alpine meadows and thick bands of alder and willow. The road was widened and rebuilt in 2015, providing a fairly smooth drive all the way to the bridge (around 2 miles). Aldershade and Drive-By have very easy access making them great objectives for the early season, shorter climbing days, or when it’s raining further up valley. At some point in time, you will probably climb one of these rocks. Jurassic Boulder is great in the early season when you need something a little different. Included in this section is Sydney Creek Bowl, as more of an Easter egg, a little bonus objective, but the access is not easy. The boulders here get great morning sun and are easily accessible in the early season (sometimes as early as April) as the snow begins to melt. From Palmer Fishhook Road (paved), turn right on Archangel Road (unpaved) and drive 1.2 miles (1.8km). You will reach Aldershade first, and the rest of the boulders can be accessed from here or further down the road. Check the description for the subareas for more detailed instructions.

Fun but very contrived. Anywhere from V6 to hard V8 depending on which holds you decide to eliminate.
