A roadside favorite! This small cluster provides a fun and convenient circuit just off Highway 2. The rock is much more coarse and grainy than the neighboring areas closer to Index and Gold Bar but the namesake boulder is a wild and unique enough feature to make it well worth the stop. This area receives ample shade during the summer which also means it can take an extra day or two to dry out after significant rain.

Park in the large pullout off Highway 2 located 4.4 miles east of Skykomish and follow the climber's trail for a minute into the woods straight to the small clust... Show more
