Lake Cliff has a handful of fun problems and some potential for those ambitious enough to explore the talus. It makes for a fun afternoon or a good end to the day when paired with the sport climbs. The boulders stay shady and comfortable long after the sport climbs become unbearably hot.

Access

The boulders are located on private land, owned by the Calabogie Peaks Ski Hill Resort. Please read and obey all signage related to access. The parking lot is a fee area managed by the Township of Greater Madawaska.

Good to Know The Cubert boulder is currently clean, but if you plan on climbing on the Radioactive boulder, bring a brush. History The area was originally developed by Jim Clark and Kevin Lee in 2018. The Lake Cliff boulders are accessed via the Barrett Chute Trailhead parking area. This is a small paved lot that can accommodate 18 vehicles. From the Bogie General Store, drive south on Calabogie Road (County Road 508) for 6.6 km. At the ski hill, turn left onto Barrett Chute Road. The parking lot will be on your right after another 1.4 km. From the parking lot, start hiking up the Manitou Mountain Trail (blazed in blue). After 200 meters, turn right onto a climbers access trail leading up to the cliff. This is currently marked with a small cairn. After another 80 meters, the Cubert boulder will be obviously visible on your left. The Radioactive boulder is another 40 meters west, up the hill.
