West Elkhorn Creek is another sector off the Elkhorn Creek Trailhead / Boy Scout Rd (CR 68C). Like most of Red Feather, the climbing is very diverse on medium to large boulders and medium-sized cliff faces. The climbing season is pretty much year-round. The area generally faces south and melts out very quickly in the winter. Summers can be quite hot, but Disappointment Falls can provide a cool break in early summer while the water is still flowing.

The area generally faces south and melts out very quickly in the winter. Summers can be quite hot, but Disappointment Falls can provide a cool break in early summer while the water is still flowing. This is another area that saw initial bouldering development from Geoff Sluyter back in the late 90s and early 2000s. Back in those days, these trails were open to 4x4 vehicles most of the time. Geoff had the luxury of driving up to practically any boulder he wanted to investigate. After Geoff, the typical cast of characters started putting in their own lines. Jacob Ojile, David Lloyd, Jason Tarry, Doug McKee, Cam Cross, Jason Nadeau, Collin Kopitzke, Matt Robbin, and the author put up tons of boulders between 2000–2020. Route development has also increased in recent years, with Jeff Snyder and Josh Cook doing a lot of the tireless work at Pot of Gold and Dome with a View. From The Forks, head west on Red Feather Lakes Rd (CR 74E) and drive west for approximately 20 minutes. Turn left again onto Boy Scout Rd (CR 68C). There will be signs for the Ben Delatour Boy Scout Camp and the Drala Mountain Center. Drive west/southwest on CR 68C for about 10 minutes until you reach the Elkhorn Creek Trailhead on your right
