The Wasatch Resort is an the most expansive area in the canyon with twice as many problems as most other areas. The beautiful tree covered south hill is heavily shaded and home to a huge collection of fantastic boulders. The main access point is just west of the last home in the Wasatch Resort neighborhood. The home owner at the west end of the neighborhood is friendly to climbers, but be respectful and don't enter their property. The Wasatch Resort is an the most expansive area in the canyon with twice as many problems as most other areas. The beautiful tree covered south hill is heavily shaded and home to a huge collection of fantastic boulders. The main access point is just west of the last home in the Wasatch Resort neighborhood. The boulders right next to their backyard are fine to climb on, just be respectful and don't make a lot of noise. The massive Wasatch Resort area can be divided up into three main vertical sections with the Water Tower areas on the east, Dean, Paul Bunyon, and Upper Wasatch areas in the middle and the Cube, Yukon and Battle Star areas to the west. The Water Tower areas are a bit of a hike, but many excellent problems make the trek worthwhile including classic intermediate 'Classic' and quality advanced lines like 'Beck Face'. A handful of elite problems like 'Muenster Cheese Squeeze' and 'The English Patient' are nearby. Higher on the hill and further east potential projects abound! Up the center areas there are lots of moderate problems with good landings near the bottom of the area with plenty of popular intermediates like 'Sad Face Clown', and 'Der Undergriff'. Higher on the hill 'Will's Face' is well liked as well as high balls 'Babe' and 'Prime Rib' high up by the cliffs. Elite lines and variations are all over including 'Muffler' and 'Rodeo Sloth'. On the west end of the Wasatch Resort the Cube boulder is home to some great slabs and a few harder problems. Further west is the very popular advanced line 'First Down' with more popular advanced high balls up hill in the Yukon zone like 'Ready to Die' and 'Big Baby Jesus' and the short but well liked 'Toolshed' and 'Mini-Maisch'. Throughout the west zones elite high ball lines can be found from top to bottom with quite a few new problems going up in recent years like 'Wind Waker', 'Belly Grip', 'Klondike' and 'High Horse'. Potential projects abound, especially up toward Battlestar. With so many great problems in such a beautiful area, Wasatch Resort is worth exploring! Park at the Grit Mill parking lot, then cross the road to the south. Find a trail next to the entry road for Wasatch Resort and follow it down toward the creek. Cross just west of the last house and head up the trails into Wasatch Resort Boulders. May not be crossable in the Spring. It is possible to cross the bridge in Riverside, and bushwhack in from the east, by the Surprise Boulder.
