Raven Rocks is certainly the most popular hike in Coopers Rock, but it also passes quite a bit of rock along its path. As you near the overlook, you begin to see more and more rock until arriving at the largest cluster, Raven Rock Overlook. Just before the trail turns uphill to the overlook, you will first see Cracklandia on the right. Whether it's your first visit or fiftieth, KAYA makes your Raven Rocks days smoother, safer, and more dialed. The main cliff band has produced a number of boulders on its downhill side, culminating in the Sunken Garden, and there’s still plenty left to be done for those willing to make the trek. Raven Rocks proper is better to visit in the fall and winter when the undergrowth has died down, and there are fewer rattlesnakes sunning themselves in the power line cut. It is worth noting, however, that while this is a great spot for a hike, the bouldering below the cliff is not great for kids or dogs. There isn’t much space for staging your gear, and the approach requires a bit of rock scrambling around to the base. Drive 2.0 miles past the entrance to Coopers, and park in the Raven Rocks parking area on the right side of the road. This trail sees lots of traffic, so be sure to park with that in mind, leaving space for others and not driving into vegetation off the road. From the parking area, cross the road and take a right turn onto the Raven Rocks Trail. Hike approximately 0.9 miles until you see a cluster of boulders just uphill to the right. This is Cracklandia. If you hike to where the trail takes a right turn uphill, you’ve gone too far. Heading straight into the woods at this turn will put you at Greenside (to the east of the overlook), and will get you to the Underlook area after a few more minutes. Alternatively, you can take the right turn uphill along the trail, and drop down to the left just before arriving to the overlook to access the Raven Rock Underlook Boulders. Dropping downhill to the right just before the overlook will get you to the aptly-named Sunken Garden.

Might be V9 for shorter folks, but the holds were also damp, and it was summertime, so it might have just been that.
