One of the lesser traveled canyons for climbing, with most climbs developed in the early 2010s. Generally considered a destination zone, most will come here for the classic We Need Ice V11, or for some of the water-polished stones in the Ice Box Maze Gully, such as Xerox Candybar V10/11. Ice Box Canyon is located just over halfway through the Red Rock Canyon 13-mile loop, thus entry fee and reservation are required. From the intersection of Charleston Blvd and the 215, drive 5.4 miles west onto SR159. Turn right into the entry of the loop and be prepared to show evidence of reservation. After payment, drive along the one-way loop road for 7.6 miles where roughly 15 parking spots will be available directly to the left and right of the road. After parking exit southwest onto the Ice Box Canyon Trail. If no parking spots are available, you will need to continue down the road and climb somewhere else. Do not illegally park on the scenic loop road.
