The Southern Outcrops is the newest developed zone at the southernmost point of Red Rock Canyon where the tall Canyon walls reduce in size. As most boulders here are smaller in nature, the quality not the best, and lack of any double-digit climbs, this a rarely trafficked zone.

Southern Outcrops is located on the southern end of Red Rock Canyon, approached via SR160 (Blue Diamond Hwy). Good car ground clearance is required. No fee or reservation needed. Reach SR160 via either SR159, 15 or 215. At the intersection of SR159 and SR160 the Late Night Trailhead will be visible after driving 4.7 miles west and an unmarked dirt road 1.0 miles further. Make the right onto the unmarked dirt road through a cattleguard. From there, the main Southern Outcrops parking lot is reached after about 10 minutes of driving 0.7 miles on a winding road including a sharp right turn to head north through the wash. The second parking lot for the northern wash is 0.2 miles further down the road.
