Most locals are familiar with this area because of the famous high cliff jumps into the clear blue water. There are some 20 and 30 footers and one pushing 60 feet for the bolder jumper. On hot summer days the place is packed with tourists playing in the lake and getting refreshments from the lemonade stand. Hidden in the woods a mere 100 yds away from the lake is a small cluster of great boulders. There are also several smaller boulders along the trail on the way in and some others scattered around the lake itself.
Parking costs seven dollars (cash only). Beware: the lot is small and fills up very early in mid-summer. You can bring a mountain bike, drop off your friends at the trail, then go park about a mile away and ride back if the lot is full. Dogs must be on a leash on the trail and around the lake. Climbers are the minority here so please obey the rules around the lake and be respectful to the owners of the concession.
DRIVING: From the “Y” in SLT take Hwy 89 north for 3.0 miles and turn left on Fallen Leaf Road. Drive for 1.8 miles and turn left, go for 0.3 and turn right then continue for 2.7 miles to the parking lot/traihead.
APPROACH: From the parking lot walk the main trail for 15 minutes to Upper Angora Lake, passing Lower Angora Lake along the way. At the lake, walk behind the cabins and look for a small trail that cuts south from behind the only 2 story cabin. Take the trail for 2 minutes until you arrive at the boulders.
