The parking lot is quite popular with hikers and mountain bikers and it can be tough to find parking during peak season. If the lot is full, you can park on Hwy 89 where the Tahoe Rim Trail crosses the road and just backtrack down the Rim Trail towards the cutoff to the boulders. This method adds maybe 100 yds extra to the approach. DRIVING: From the Hwy 89/50 junction in Meyers, reset your odometer and drive south on Hwy 89 towards Luther Pass. After 5.2 miles, turn left down into the Big Meadow Trailhead parking area. It’s a little easier to see the sign marking the parking area coming down Luther Pass, as opposed to driving up the pass. APPROACH: From the parking area walk to the downhill side of the parking lot and start walking down the Tahoe Rim Trail. After 75 yds you will see a wooden post on the right with two blue arrows. Continue another 20 yds and turn right between a clump of trees and some small rocks onto a faint, possibly marked climbers trail. Walk NW down this faint climber’s trail for 5 minutes until you arrive at the start of the boulders, which should be The Swindler and surrounding boulders. From here a modest group of problems lie in a small talus field just 50 yds to the NE. More boulders are located just to the SW across the creek and downhill from there.
