From South Lake Tahoe: From the Hwy 50/89 junction in Meyers, take Hwy 50 west to the top of Echo Summit. Start your descent down the west side and the road widens to four lanes. Just before the road narrows to two lanes there will be a big pullout on the left, 4.5 miles from the intersection of Hwy 50/89 in Meyers. This is the parking for Camouflage Forest/Lake Audrain. You can turn around safely just past here on your right and come back to park. From the parking area walk right down the obvious gated gravel road heading west/southwest for 15-20 minutes, finishing with a climb up a short hill. On the hill you might see a sign high on a tree that says “Scout Peak.” When the road cuts hard left at a hairpin turn, take the single track trail marked XP (Pony Express Trail) headed west. From here hike the trail 4 minutes to the first turnoff to The Bog, it is marked by a rock stack on your right. The rest of the areas (except for The Folds) are farther down the XP Trail. Read the beta boxes later in this chapter to locate the turnoffs to the other areas.
From Sacramento: Park on the right in a big pullout, 0.5 miles past the left-hand turn onto Echo Lakes/Johnson Pass Road, before the top of Echo Summit. From here, follow the South Lake Tahoe directions listed above.
Explore Lake Tahoe from all levels with KAYA PRO. Drill down to the area, subarea, boulder and climb levels. Get approach information for each, and a variety of beta.
