The main attraction at the Firestones is two side by side mega granite boulders. There are some lesser boulders in the area, but due to the fact that they are a bit spread out they haven’t seen much traffic. The approach to the main Firestones is not bad and “It’s a Boy” is surely one of the best problems of its grade in all of Tahoe.

The boulders themselves are on National Forest land and sit very close to private property. DRIVING: From The Bay Area or Tahoe take I-80 and exit at Yuba gap. Park in a large dirt area on the south side of I-80, next to a small pond. APPROACH: Find a faint dirt road that heads west and parallels the freeway. Walk the dirt road for about 1 mile until you see the Firestone Boulders just off the dirt road to your left. Just remember, the dirt road leads to the boulders.
