The rock here can be a little chossy at times, but just as often the rock is well-featured with golden patina and diorite knobs, so everything kind of evens out in the end. The Pie Shop gets a lot of sun and is often climbable during dry spells in the winter. There are many houses nearby, especially at Echo View, so please be courteous to residents to ensure no access issues in the future. The Good: Access, Moderates, Excellent Side Areas, Climbable In Winter The Bad: Some Coarse And Chossy Rock, Hot In Summer, Dusty, Crowds For the main Pie Shop and Golf Course boulders: From South Lake Tahoe at the “Y” take Hwy 50/89 south for 2.5 miles and turn right on Sawmill Road. Continue on Sawmill Road for 0.2 miles and park on the left in a large pullout area. The main Pie Shop boulders are just above the road. For the Golf Course boulders backtrack down Sawmill Road for a short distance, then cut right towards the golf course for 50 yds to the boulders.
