The Dumps is Old County (OC) on steroids. Many of the boulders are taller and blanker than the average OC boulder and the rock on some of the problems is wicked sharp. The rock varies from OK quality to insanely sharp and too painful to climb on. But don’t let that scare you, there are plenty of average sized boulders with decent rock and moderate problems. The whole circuit sits on one bluff and it is very concentrated, which makes getting around very easy. The overview map shows about 30 boulders that have been climbed on, although I have only made topos for the best boulders. Most of the boulders get morning sun and afternoon shade. If you like OC and you’re ready for some new problems, this place is a fun change-up. The Metal Ward has some really fun, worthy highballs and I would recommend checking this wall out at least once in your career. The Dumps has seen a lot less traffic than OC so be very cautious of loose holds, especially on the big boys. I have also included The Castle Boulder and The Trash Boulder in this section because they are located close to the main Dumps area. The Castle Boulder is a four star boulder. The spots are spread all around town.
