What was once a dangerous route up this landmark arete is now far safer, though old school bolt-spacing maintains a level of seriousness. Both pitches have a character all their own, though they share a magnificent position. Keep in mind that Sky Ridge ascends the right side of the arete, and the mid-pitch anchor is for Sky Slab and not a hanging belay. Approach with a quick 3rd class scramble up the ridge crest above Asterisk Pass. Pitch 1: (5.8) Climb crumbling, naturally protected rock before veering right to solid. bolt-protected knobs. The highlight comes on the arete itself, before stepping right to a finishing crack. Pitch 2: (5.7) Scamper up a simple crack left of a slab, and commit to a memorable hand traverse below the summit block.
