Though bouldering development in Victoria goes back at least to the early 90's, even local climbers in the mid 2010's could have been fooled into thinking there was little here of note. In the last decade the popularity of Victoria bouldering has exploded, spurred on by the new gyms, the overall increase in climbing’s popularity and the publication of the first bouldering guides since 1999, areas which used to be the playgrounds of small groups of dedicated boulderers have finally gained the attention they deserve. Though none of the areas in Victoria are especially large, or dense when compared to places like Squamish, or even the Duncan Boulders, the great diversity of rock types, and locales makes it a great year round bouldering spot, since there is always a different zone in season.
